Can I close my Dell 600M laptop and use my 'regular' monitor and full size keyboard via my port replicator?

I have a Dell Inspiron 600M. Almost a year ago, I also bought a port replicator hoping to be able to close my laptop and use a full-size keyboard and a regular, flat screen monitor. Can I do that? Somebody told me they thought that there was no setting

Absolutely you should be able to do this.

If your replicator looks anything like this one, then you have the USB ports for the keyboard... and the Video ports for your monitor.
