Upgrade processor on new factory refurbished computer?
I just bought a new factory refurbished HP computer but wasn't happy with the processor it came with. The processor I bought has the same socket, AM2, so it shouldn't be a problem upgrading it. My question is, I haven't run the initial setup yet and
If you have thermal compound, and your replacement AMD processor exactly matches the socket specification (e.g. an AM2 processor on an AM2 or AM2/AM2+ motherboard), then go ahead and replace it before the initial startup.
